Lauren  is a graphic designer and art director with 10 years of experience in book publishing. Having worked with self-published authors, independent presses, and in-house at the Big 5. Born and raised in Kansas, she migrated east to attend Syracuse University where she earned a BFA in Communications Design and a minor from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She then moved to NYC, beginning her career at Macmillan, and has been at Little, Brown and Co. since 2013. After spending nearly a decade in NYC, Lauren migrated back west, this time to the stunning landscapes of New Mexico where she is currently based as a freelance designer and art director.

Her broad range of work includes fiction and nonfiction adult trade titles, everything from from literary debuts to commercially established authors. Lauren’s cover designs have been recognized by Publishers Weekly, HuffPost, Lit Hub, She Designs Books, Spine Magazine, and The Casual Optimist.

Lauren started using InDesign and Photoshop when working on her high school’s weekly newspaper. She has thought several times about escaping the “archaic” world of print, but instead keeps going deeper. First, by starting her career in trade book publishing. Then in 2017 she started Riso printing, and in 2018 co-founded Next Chapter Studio with her husband. Whether it’s CMYK or Riso, Lauren excels in file prep, color correction, and producing the best printed product (in addition to top notch designs).

Around here, print isn’t dead.
